Nowadays, tissue papers are really important in everyday life. To name a few, Kleenex, Joy, Newtex and Kotex offer a variety of comforts for us even an ordinary or unbranded one can also give the same level of pampering. But waaddaa, what if you only have 4 sheets of tissue in your pocket, and you are in the instance you never expected? Would only 4 sheets be enough? Let us see it then.
Situation # 1. While riding a car, you happened to pass by the woods and it was very dark and you feel like you are having the strong and powerful urge to poo. What would you do? Well, it would be an excellent idea if you sing “Sa bukid, walang papel. Aayy!” (In the field, there’s no paper. Hheyy!) and clean yourself up with 4 sheets. Hehehehe.

Situation # 2. After discoing and like throwing yourself away, then you went home and saw your face in the mirror. You look like you have been mutilated with a melted make up still on, good for the creepiest Halloween character. Just, simply wash your face and use the tissue paper.
_x_Yes ___No
Situation # 3. Walking down across the street while having a relaxing time, seeing the surroundings of the glorious Tabaco Parish Church in Tabaco City then someone accidentally sneeze in your face. Saliva and phlegm is sticking and hanging all over your face, maybe you try to wipe them out carefully with these tissue papers by not sliding them over your mouth. Eow! Yuckie!
_x_Yes ___No
Situation # 4. You are whining and crying over something after hearing someone whispered inside the dark closet by a dreadful voice and unseen force, “Wara ka na nganing looks, wara ka pang utak, wara ka pang money…” (You don’t only have the looks, you also don’t have brains and money) Unquestionably, you will be shocked and trembling. Anyway, just share your horrible experience with your friends and use the four sweet sheets of tissue.
___Yes ___No _x_Maybe
Thwang! If the tissue paper isn’t enough, you can use the available things around you - your sleeves or hanky, or maybe go to a river to clean yourself up. Find things to make yourself feeling better. That’s all we do, right?

Notice: the quotated statement in Situation #4 is based on someone Spiky knew. Rock n’ roll dude!
In May of 2008, there were many things that Spiky wanted to do here in Albay after several months of stay in Manila. One of which is to experience new chapters that he never had before. He said to himself that he will redefine his life - he will go out more often to meet new faces. He, indeed, met strangers and eventually, created friends. He even also gained a lover after few weeks of stay.
He really felt so blessed during those times when he had his lover because back in his high school or college days, things weren’t the same as that. He then embraced a warmer atmosphere wherever he goes. He thought that those days would not come to his life.
In an abrupt moment, Spiky had to know again the meaning of alone. He was dumped and deeply hurt. Then, he only got an explained thought through text that things have changed. He felt doom, anger, madness, and sort of betrayal. A voice inside grew and grew louder that he wanted to scream and shout it out. He exerted ways to speak with his ex in person but he only got rejection and cold comments.
Then in September of 2008, Spiky was still trying to get the predicament out from his system. He went to Manila to be with his friend just to spill the emotions on closed-door four walls. When he was alone in that room, he was with the silence and coldness. No one can hear his wail, no one can see his tears, and no one can feel him. It was only him. That was only the chance he got in letting it out.
After 3 days of stay in Manila, he went back to Bicol. He met new faces, became slightly happy, fought a foe, became sad, and then experienced a bloody accident. That accident happened in December during Christmas Eve and he then realized that he still had deep emotions for his ex. He then again commenced to talk in person but chances of meeting up were fading. Spiky got a derogatory reply through a text. “Enjoy your ‘activities’…”
Spiky was able to make up his mind that there’s no hope for any closure because of that text. He nervelessly surrendered, then squarely accepted new beginnings in life.
How many pages should be turned before he realizes that a broken piece is still broken, and the time is still not faltering?
I can truly say that this song is a trademark for all Albayanos for having been strong against the hardships – from Spanish era until the approach of Reming typhoon. The lyric brings a nostalgic presence for every people of Albay. It also brings compelling emotions upon hearing the familiar places - Tabaco, Ligao, Legazpi, and Daraga.
Tabaco City is where I grew up, Ligao is where I tried to hone my skills, Legazpi City is where I able to transform that skill into a profession, and Daraga is where I made friends.
Listening to the song is like reminiscing past experiences. I remember the other places where I was born, rode a water bufallo on the ricefield, witnessed colorful festivals, and explored exotic and beautiful places in Albay. I can really say that Albay is my home.
Enjoy and play this song, share this with every Albayano on earth.
Buckyard Boyz - Albay Song (Buckyard Boyz)
‘Albay Song’ Lyrics
(Chain)
From way down south, were Mayon is at
There’s a few things that you gotta know
First Buckyard boyz just startin’ the show
Pack your bags and were ready to go
Bounce to the spot from island to island
You’ll be mesmerize from city to highland
Swim to the beach, roam to the cave
It aint no worry coz were all behave
Kapit bisig lagi bayanihan
Talagang uragun bicolano iyan
Talagang apo ni baltog, talagang dai nag papadaug
Madya na sa kabikolan para mahiling ta mga kagayunan
Mari na na, sumabay ka na para di mauryan
Sabi ta baga diyos mabalos saindo gabos
(Chorus)
I’m from, were from, you’re from Albay
We represent the city of smile (smile)
Were proud ‘coz we got what it takes to rock the mic right (hey)
(NickBee)
Utak Bicolano ‘to, sarili kong liriko, ‘di ako mahihiyang humawak ng micropono…
(Chorus)
I’m from, were from, you’re from Albay
We represent the city of smile (smile)
Were proud ‘coz we got what it takes to rock the mic right (hey)
(Ghost)
From tha land where Mayon stood still
A place where you can laugh, sit back and chill
Hop from one, to anotha beautiful spot
And when you gotta meet us locals, you will like us a lot
Cuz where naturally smart, talento’y sagad sagad
Certified na mauurag Albayano mananggad
Kahit na ano pang hamon, hinding hindi aatrasan
Wag na wag mong susubukan baka ka ma anghangan
Yan ang Albayano mauurag talaga
From Ligao to Tabaco, Legazpi-Daraga
Pirang bagyong nag-agi kita nagkaralantupan
Pag ka lipas pirang bulan, urulukon nanaman
I’m an Albayano and I’m proud to be one
If you’re proud to, come raise up your hand
Divided we fall, united we stand
It’s time to stand for our Brand
breakdown (ad libs)
(Chorus)
I’m from, were from, you’re from Albay
We represent the city of smile (smile)
Were proud ‘coz we got what it takes to rock the mic right (hey)

“The BUCKYARD BOYZ delivers crunk style hip hop in a very Pinoy way. These hip hopping boys from Legazpi City, Albay enjoyed a top 5 ranking on OKFM Letgazpi’s Top 30 Countdown, accordingly the first time a local act cracked the top 10 of that radio station’s hit list.” — MusikMax Bicol
It has been more than year since my ex told me about Pepsi Paloma Experiment. Back then, I was wondering what that was. Then I went home and did a little research in the internet. I found out that it is an Albay local band which had entered the national music scene.
The Pepsi Paloma Experiment band’s music sounds like foreign to me but it has a peculiar Bikolnon taste. The sound has the touch of techno and reggae while vocals have the fine distinction that Albayanos would be proud of. Their genre, Brit/Euro pop, is contemporary for Filipino listeners.
As I browsed through the net, I get to know few other local bands of Bicol particulary in Albay and Camarines Sur.
Stolenshots. They can produce lively and dance music. But this band from Legazpi City took me quite by surprise as I listened to one of their songs “Rudies Cry”. It is dramatic and nicely done, slow yet it can make your feet dance to the rhythm.
Buckyard Boyz. I saw them performed in Magayon Festival (an annual celebration that relives the legend of Mayon Volcano) with my special someone last May of 2009. The band is composed of three members who performed amazing rapping skills (hip-hop genre) for their original song, “Albay song”. I didn’t expect that these three Legazpeňo would give me sudden chills and prolong goosebumps. It feels more nostalgic because it has a story, and local places that I’ve been to were mentioned.
Centerfold. The female lead vocalist of this band of Naga City can be compared with Avril Lavigne. The coolness of her voice reminds me of Avril’s teeny-pop-rock style. Listening to their songs (X Song, and My Utopia) can be best done before and after long hours of grueling work.
Pentacle. Would you believe that this band from Cam Sur is an all-girl group and rocking hardcore? Well, believe it. When they do the screaming part, they sounded like dudes doing heavy metal having a smoke. In an odd way, they really sound good because the arranger of the songs knew very well where to put those screams.
Pandora’s Box. This band from Naga has talents in heavy metal and nu mental. For the fans of rock n roll music, definitely, this song will make you enjoy. Just don’t hit the ground when you do your headbang.
Idle Pitch. Idle Pitch band offers greatness in depicting their lyrics. This is the type of music where someone can easily relate to. Their contemporary songs can definitely strike you through your soul.
Black Gulaman. Their songs, ‘Break the Silence’ and ‘Limot’ are nicely done in a slow rock that is why they are pleasant to ears. I can consider the songs as a chill out music.
These bicolano bands can be seen during their gigs around Bicol especially in Legazpi and Naga.
With these bands, I wish more and more local artists would come out and share their talents with all Bicolanos and people of the world. I keep my fingers crossed then.
