(Spiky was there last October 26, 2008)
A wonderful place of Mayon Skyline, formerly known as Mayon Resthouse, would be reached if someone from Manila had a 20-minute flight to Legazpi City, a 45-minute travel to centre of Tabaco City, plus half-an-hour ride to Mayon Volcano (currently 12th position for New-7-Wonders-of-the-World poll) in the province of Albay in Philippines.
Mayon Skyline is usually a destination of tours from different places in the Philippines. It is also a place for seminars, convention, sight-seeing, relaxing and also a starting point for hikers towards the peak of the volcano. If someone wishes to stay longer, better wear a jacket because weather may easily get windy, colder or foggy.
Kids may love to run and play on the ground while others would enjoy the views of Mt. Malinao, Mt. Masaraga, and Tabaco Bay. Feel the nature’s breeze!
Taken on 2005, the picture has the big Cross still standing and lucky that the fog was not too thick that time, the Mayon top portion showed up.
The skyline was struck by Typhoon Reming in 2006 causing the Cross to crash down over the chapel. Until now, it hasn’t been moved back to its original position.

After the trip, you can go to another hot tourist spot - Dhio Endheka for an overnight stay or perhaps a refreshing dip at the pool. The resort located at Buang, Tabaco City is a 7-minute drive away from Mayon Skyline.
:)
I hope they finish the plans. Mayon needs more tourists, and this will greatly help.
Posted by grace at November 5, 2008, 2:37 pm@grace…let us cross our fingers for that. Government of Albay is probably working to raise our local tourism.
If I have the opportunity to go to Legaspi, I’d try to go to this place.

Posted by Max mickle at January 21, 2009, 2:22 pmHi,
The Mayon Skyline (formerly known as Mayon Resthouse) is located on the eastern slope of Mayon Volcano. This is the nearest you could be with Mayon. It is said to be an excellent summer resort because of its cool temperature. One attraction of the Mayon Skyline is its very own planetarium. Inside, is an on-going exhibit and film showing about volcano eruption to better understand the volcanoes.

Posted by jhe at November 11, 2009, 12:07 am@jhe…as of this time, it is not advisable to be in 6-km danger zone…that means it is better to have a view of our Mayon from the city or town centers.
